So I created this blog as a class assignment but I'd like to keep it going to share photos and stories with long distance friends and relatives of our little sweet peas! I also plan to share helpful information about raising twins and our family adventures.
So here we go...
Adventures this week:
Monday
Physical Therapy for Foster. Twins can often develop torticollis which is basically a tightening of neck muscles. So we go to PT every other week to stretch and loosen his neck. This condition is usually caused due to a lack of space in the womb. Fortunately, Foster's torticollis is mild and will only have to undergo PT for 2 months.
Wednesday
"Aunt" Liz came to visit Foster and Jaxson after work. I say "Aunt" because my husband and I are only children and we have elected some very close friends as "aunts" and "uncles" as the boys will not have any biological aunts or uncles.
Thursday
We had a very busy day! The boys had their 2 month check-up which they screamed almost the entire time. Normally the boys are very well-behaved and very seldom have meltdowns...however since I was flying solo to this appoinment (husband had a meeting at work) it was only par for the course for them to throw tantrums. The boys weighed in at 10 lbs. 6 oz. for Jaxson and 10 lbs. 9 oz. for Foster! They also received their 2 month immunizations which only amped up their crying!
Lunch with a fellow twin mom! She has twin boys that are 2 years old and is a great resource...now I can know what to expect with my boys!
Concord Mills after lunch. We did 2 laps around the mall which equates to 2 miles! I am desperately trying to get back in shape and back to my pre-pregnancy weight. It's an ongoining and depressing challenge. While checking out at Bed, Bath, and Beyond the two ladies behind the counter held this conversation:
"wow, they look identical!"...
"of course they are identical, they are twins".

Friday
A trip to Denver Days (basically a county fair in Lincoln County). We didn't stay long, not an ideal place for 2 month olds.
Saturday
The whole family participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure! It was great...the boys slept almost the entire 5k. On a strange note...on several different occasions we were stopped and asked if they could take a picture of our boys. I have no idea who these people were, just random participants. I felt a little like a celebrity, but it was also a little creepy.
Now for a few of my favorite twin comments and questions (and some responses I wish I was gutsy enough to make)...
"Are they identical?"
-No, they do resemble each other but you can tell a difference.
"How old are they?"
-2 1/2 months. (Born July 13)
"Are they on the same schedule?"
-Yes.
"How do you do it?"
-I have to, I don't have a choice.
"Are they natural?" (one of my favorites)
-Yes, they are human. (This, I believe, is an attempt to determine I underwent fertility treatments)
"How much did they weigh when they were born?"
-6 lbs.
"Are they twins?"
-Nope, just born on the same day. Yes, they are twins!
"Did you have a C-section?"
-Nope.
"Did you do that IVF thing?"
-Hmmm, not really any of your business.
"I feel so sorry for you."
-Thank you for those lovely words of encouragment, I am BLESSED to have twins...thank you.
"I have two kids close in age, it's the same thing as having twins."
-I don't claim to know what it's like to have two kids at two different times so I don't think you really know what it's like to have two kids at the same time.
"Wow, I guess you're done having kids right?"
-We'll see. But I'd like to make that decision with my husband if that's ok.
Also, folks, I can see you when you point at me and my babies and I can hear you say "oh look, she has twins" or "oh, she has two babies in that stroller".
